"Training under Sensei Takehito has been an incredible journey of growth and self-discovery. In just a year and a half, I have not only developed my skills on the mat but also learned valuable lessons that apply to life beyond judo. Competing in my first tournament and winning a bronze medal was a milestone I never imagined achieving when I first started. Sensei Takehito has a way of teaching not only techniques but also the spirit of judo and always offering support and guidance. I am grateful for the discipline, confidence, and resilience I have gained through his coaching, and I look forward to continuing my journey in this amazing sport."

He creates a supportive and safe environment where everyone can train with confidence and respect. His teaching provides a solid foundation in Judo, grounded in both technique and philosophy. "My old judo club had disbanded and I was left without a club to train at. I had tried at other places but it always felt like I was late to the party. Here at Marlon Colorado Judo with sensei Takehito I got along great and felt a sense of community. What I love most about his teaching is his communication and willingness to hear what the students have to say. Something I felt greatly lacking in other clubs. I'm happy to say I am training Judo under Sensei Takehito. There is no place more enjoyable for hobbiest and advanced judo practioners then here."

Common Questions About Judo Training

Everything you need to know about starting your Judo journey

Is Judo good for fitness?

Absolutely! Judo provides a complete full-body workout through throws, movement, and partner drills. You'll build strength, improve flexibility, enhance cardiovascular fitness, and develop better balance and coordination - all while learning practical martial arts skills.

Do I need to be fit to start Judo?

Not at all! Judo is completely beginner-friendly, and you'll naturally get fit as you train. Our classes are designed to accommodate all fitness levels, and you'll gradually build strength and endurance through practice.

How is Judo different from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?

While both are grappling arts, Judo emphasizes throws, balance, and standing techniques, while BJJ focuses more on ground fighting. Judo training involves more dynamic movement and is excellent for developing explosive power and agility.

Is Judo a good alternative to the gym?

Yes! Judo offers everything a gym does and more - it's active, social, skill-based, and keeps you motivated through constant learning. Instead of repetitive exercises, you're mastering techniques while getting an amazing workout with a supportive community.

Is Judo safe for beginners?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. All students learn proper breakfalls (ukemi) before advancing to throwing techniques. Our certified instructors ensure everyone trains safely and progresses at their own pace.

What should I expect in my first class?

Your first class will focus on basic movements, balance, and simple techniques. You'll wear comfortable workout clothes, learn some fundamental skills, and get a feel for our welcoming community. No pressure - just fun learning!
